Electrical Designer III Location : Greenwood Village, CO CLP Engineering (CLPE) is a full-service electric utility solutions engineering firm with more than twenty years' experience in electrical utility system ownership, upgrades, maintenance and operations through our sister company, City Light & Power. CLPE offers a wide range of power system engineering services to investor-owned, municipal, cooperative, government, industrial, and commercial customers. We're seeking an experienced Electrical Designer III to develop, prepare, check and coordinate designs and drawings needed for plant electrical systems. This is a collaborative position where you'll be an active Contributor on our engineering team! Duties and Responsibilities :
- Develop accurate designs complying with recognized drafting standards, company practices, policies and procedures.
- Prepare and oversee electrical power system design including single-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Develop plans, elevations and sections of various electrical systems, inclusive of below ground and above ground designs.
- Substation design is a key responsibility.
- Perform conduit and cable sizing calculations, ground grid layouts, and details.
- Create bill of materials (BOMs) for all components associated with the various electrical system designs.
- Ability to prepare as-built drawings from red-line copies.
- Assist with complete design checks to assure applicable codes, standards, design / drafting standards, and technical accuracy have been incorporated.
- Ability to interface successfully with the customer to provide technical support and integrate designs as required.
- Exercise independent judgment to develop designs with minimal direction and may concurrently support multiple projects.

- Associate degree in drafting, engineering technology or related field preferred.
- Five to seven (5-7) years of experience in the design of electrical systems required.
- Previous drafting or design experience in the power industry (distribution systems and / or substations) preferred.
- Experience with cable tray / conduit layouts, lighting design and grounding.
- Ability to perform calculations to document design decisions.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office software.
- Previous experience with MicroStation or 3D Modeling are pluses.
- Ability to understand and verify applicable electrical design criteria, familiar with construction industry standards.
- Must have working technical knowledge of other discipline interfaces. Work Authorization / Security Clearance :
- You must be a US Citizen.
- You will be required to obtain Military Base Access Security Clearance.

- Hourly payrate range : $36.00 - $42.00 based on experience plus eligible for participation in Short Term Incentive Plan.
