The purpose of this job is to evaluate clients’ needs to identify dietary requirements and restrictions. Conducts nutrition assessments, assigns nutrition/health risk factors, provides nutrition and breastfeeding counseling, establishes nutrition/health goals, prescribes food packages to WIC participants, and coordinates/implements WIC program outreach activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities - The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job. - Conducts nutrition assessments to determine initial eligibility of applicants and continued eligibility of current participants.
- Provides nutritional counseling, education, and breastfeeding support to WIC program participants.
- Coordinates and implements program outreach activities for students, residents, and physicians’ offices.
- Prepares and evaluates records, data, and resources related to nutritional services.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- No supervisory authority. Work may require providing guidance and training to others.

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or Public Health.
Licenses or Certifications
- Valid driver’s license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities which may be representative, but not all-inclusive of those commonly associated with this position

- Motivational interviewing.
- Principles and practices of nutrition and food in relation to health and disease.
- General office practices and administrative procedures, records management, and administration techniques and procedures.
