Responsible for performing field inspections related to all phases of stormwater pollution prevention for compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and ordinances
Inspects construction sites for Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Construction General Permit (TXR150000) compliance and enter inspection results
Reviews and updates erosion and sediment control plans and stormwater pollution prevention plans for both construction and industrial sites permitted within the City of Denton
Inspects industrial sites for Texas Pollution Discharge Elimination System (TPDES) Industrial Stormwater Multi-Sector General Permit (TXR050000) compliance and enter inspection results
Assists in presenting public information and outreach related to stormwater quality to a variety of audiences including site operators, other departments and divisions, students, trade groups and professional organizations
Provides information for enforcement actions, citations, and stop work orders.
Performs water sample collection, analysis, and monitoring equipment maintenance
Conducts dry weather screening of outfalls
Performs related duties as assigned
Prepares monthly reports as required
Maintains database of permitted sites and investigation/inspection history in various electronic platforms
Maintains regular and punctual attendance
Additional Duties:
Conducts investigations in response to reported illicit discharges
Assists in presenting public information and outreach related to stormwater quality to a variety of audiences including site operators, other departments and divisions, students, trade groups and professional organizations
Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications / Acceptable Equivalency:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Three (3) years of experience in water resources management, field inspection for construction or industrial projects, environmental inspection, and plan review or related field
OR
Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Bilingual in Spanish and English
College degree with training in chemistry, biology, engineering, or related field.
Six (6) months experience with erosion control and/or stormwater.
Certification in International Erosion Control Association (IECA) related areas such as Certified Professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Certified Erosion, Sediment and Stormwater Inspector or related certification is preferred.
Experience in environmental compliance, environmental regulation or environmental monitoring related to surface water quality.
Experience in water and/or wastewater quality and sampling.
Conditions of Employment:
Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver License and valid state required minimum automobile liability insurance prior to employment (must obtain Texas Class C driver license and state required minimum automobile liability insurance within 90 days of hire per state law)
Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification check
Must pass a physical examination.
Must be able to work overtime when requested.
May be required to work weekends or evenings as needed in response to reports or to support outreach activities
Certification in International Erosion Control Association (IECA) or Certified professional in Erosion and Sediment Control (CPESC), Certified professional in Erosion and Sediment Control-In Training (CPESC-IT), Certified Erosion, Sediment and Stormwater Inspector, or related, approved, certification or equivalent training within one year of employment.
