- Works with public safety agencies on information technology procedures to assure compliance with CJIS, HIPAA, and other security standards to protect data in police and fire environments.
- Collaborates with Deputy Information Technology Director to develop and manage departmental budgets and goals.
- In conjunction with I.T. Management and/or Public Safety Department Liaisons, provides technical support to Public Safety users, which includes troubleshooting, problem resolution and general question response.
- Provides for front-line system support for Public Safety users.
- Designs data collection, processing, and control procedures.
- Implements software applications.
- Designs and implements system integrations.
- Maintains numerous custom database applications.
- Analyzes, modifies, tests, and debugs new or existing programs and make changes as required.
- Documents programs – or updates existing documentation – according to established standards.
- Leads project teams that may involve non-IT staff members.
- Analyzes user department requests, prioritizes them, assigns them and provides solutions to meet operational needs.
- Manages section staff by assigning tasks, tracking progress, and evaluating performance.
- Designs and teaches end-user training classes.
- Develops and maintains system disaster recovery programs for critical public safety systems.
- Manages contractors and vendors by developing and evaluating RFPs, completing contract negotiations, and reviewing contract deliverables.
- Performs and maintains 24/7 availability for after-hours support.
- Supervises, coaches and mentors' staff under direct report.
- Assists in the development and administration of section budget.
- Maintains regular and punctual on-site attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Computer Science, or a related field
- Six (6) years’ experience in a progressively responsible technology support environment
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Eight (8) years’ experience in a progressively responsible technology support environment
- Any combination of related education, experience, certifications and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job

Preferences:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Experience with supporting technology in a public safety environment
- Must pass a drug test, driver’s license check, criminal history background check, and social security number verification
- Must meet the Civilian Hiring Standards of the Denton Police Department
- Must be able to work after normal business hours as needed
