Join our Transportation team as a Part-Time Transit Operator! In this role, you will operate trolleys, buses, and minivans, providing our community with safe and reliable transportation. Each day, you’ll connect people to places—whether it’s work, school, or daily errands—with a level of care and customer service that sets us apart. Beyond driving, your responsibilities will include conducting pre-and post-trip maintenance checks to keep vehicles clean and welcoming. You’ll also ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and help passengers requiring special assistance.
With scheduled routes running seven days a week, we offer both morning and evening shifts. Also, because we believe in supporting your professional growth, we facilitate ongoing training to continuously enhance your knowledge and skills.What You’ll Do in This Role:
- Operate trolleys, buses, and minivans, accommodating ADA-qualified passengers and adhering to federal regulations.
- Perform regular safety checks and minor maintenance on vehicles, documenting any defects.
- Drive designated routes according to schedule, prioritizing defensive driving techniques.
- Ensure day-to-day operations comply with Federal Transit Administration (FTA) regulations, state, and city policies.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and communicate effectively with dispatchers and other drivers.
- Accurately record passenger, fuel, and mileage data.
- Participate in ongoing training to enhance skills and knowledge.
- Equivalent to completion of high school or GED.
- One year of experience operating passenger transportation vehicles is a plus.
- Knowledge of transit system operations, maintenance, and standard safety practices.
- Excellence in public interaction, effective verbal communication, and de-escalation skills.
- Skilled in vehicle operation, technology use, and assisting all passengers, including those with special needs and unescorted children, in various transit situations and weather conditions.
- CDL with Passenger Endorsement required
