What are the responsibilities and job description for the Hourly City Worker - Public Arts Intern position at City of Glendale (CA)?
The Public Arts Intern position is part of the LA County Department of Arts & Culture’s Arts Internship Program and is a temporary unclassified, non-civil service, hourly, part-time position with no medical, dental or accrued leave benefits, with the exception of AB1522 - healthy workplace healthy family act. Applicant must be currently enrolled in a college or university, must reside or attend college in Los Angeles County, and be interested/willing to complete a 20-30 hour a week internship from October 2023 February 2024. The selected candidate must complete 400 hours of service by the end of February 2024.
Essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:
Ensures Department services are provided with exceptional customer service and the highest level of ethical standards.
Attend meetings of the Glendale Arts and Culture Commission (ACC).
Assist in preparing materials for the ACC meetings.
Participate in staff meetings and team meetings related to marketing and publicity of ACC programs.
Drives on City business.
Assumes responsibility for ensuring the duties of the position are performed in a safe, efficient manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned or as the situation requires.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:
Exceptional customer service practices.
Basic mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Basic office computer systems and applicable software.
Proper English, spelling, and grammar.
Ability to:
Provide exceptional customer service to those using the Library, Arts & Culture Department.
Model and practice the highest standards of ethical conduct.
Read, write, communicate effectively and comprehend directions in English.
Other Characteristics
Willingness to:
Assume responsibility for maintaining a safe working environment. Complete 400 hours of service by the end of February 2024.
Work the necessary hours and times, including overtime, to accomplish goals, objectives and required tasks.
Experience
No specific requirement.
Experience in performing data entry work is highly desirable.
Experience in marketing and/or communications is highly desirable.
Education/Training
Must be currently enrolled in a college or university in pursuit of an undergraduate degree. Must attach proof of enrollment via transcript. Failure to attach transcript or proof will result in automatic disqualification of application.
Special Conditions
This position is only open to students currently enrolled in a college or university who reside or attend college in Los Angeles County. Recent college or university graduates may apply as long as they have completed their degree between May 1, 2023 to September 1, 2023.
Students who have already earned a BA, BS, or a higher degree are not eligible for the Los Angeles County Arts Internship Program.
Students who have previously participated in the program are not eligible to participate a second time.
Students must be able and willing to complete 400 hours of service by the end of February 2024.

Valid Class C California driver's license is required.
