Program Assistant – Shape Downtown Greensboro’s Vibrant Greenway Experience!
$16.55 per hour
Work Schedule:
Average 20 hours per week, year-round. Flexible hours required, including some weekends, evenings, or holidays.
Important Information About Roster Positions
- Hourly Employment: Roster positions are paid hourly and do not include benefits such as medical, dental, or vision insurance, life insurance, paid leave, or paid holidays.
- Limited Hours: Roster employees may work up to, but no more than, 1,000 hours in a 12-month period.
- Pension System: Roster positions are not eligible for membership in the city’s pension system.

As a Downtown Greenway Program Assistant, you’ll report to the Greenway & Gardens Program Coordinator and play an essential role in delivering engaging and meaningful public programming along the Downtown Greenway. This position supports and helps facilitate a broad scope of programs in areas such as health and wellness, environmental education, visual and performing arts, and youth programming.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing on-site support during programs, events, and volunteer workdays.
- Supporting communication and outreach efforts to engage the community.
- Assisting with program planning, logistics, and assessment.
- Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to coordinate program schedules.
- Positively interacting with diverse groups of people and engaging with the public.
- Leading guided walking tours along the Downtown Greenway.
This job is Non-Exempt and is subject to the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, evenings, or holidays.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Access to reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer service experience.
- Community programming experience.
- Marketing or communications experience.

Salary : $17
