The City of Greensboro is seeking dedicated and reliable individuals to join our Solid Waste & Recycling Department as Laborers. This role is perfect for those who are committed to maintaining a clean and vibrant city and eager to develop skills in waste management operations.
Salary Information:
Hourly Rate: $16.55
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a flexible 40-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend or holiday shifts as required. Early morning reporting times are essential, and work will be performed in various weather conditions.

About the Role:
As a Laborer on the Solid Waste & Recycling Team, you will perform the duties of a solid waste helper under the direct supervision of an experienced Solid Waste & Recycling Operator. Your responsibilities will include servicing trash and recycling containers, handling bulk items and yard waste, and ensuring customer locations are left clean and free of debris.You will receive training on safely unloading materials at disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities and operating heavy-duty trucks used for waste collection. You will also be coached on maneuvering vehicles in residential areas and high-traffic environments. Your role includes reporting unsafe situations or service-related issues, attending required training programs and meetings, and assisting other drivers as needed.
