Hiring Salary Range: $67,272.00 - $76,882.00   Full Salary Range: $58,430.00 - $104,560.00  Annually

About the Role:

As an Electronic Process Technician, you will:

  • Maintain and repair analog and digital electronic equipment.
  • Ensure proper function of radio transmission equipment, wastewater quality instrumentation, flow and chemical pacing equipment, and sensors (level, pH, temperature, residuals, etc.).
  • Operate and troubleshoot SCADA systems and computer-controlled processes.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical maintenance on pumps, motors, wiring, lighting, and chemical systems.
  • Work with high, medium, and low voltage systems, including valve actuators and feeders.
  • The job is NON-EXEMPT under FLSA

  • Experience in electronic process control, instrumentation, or industrial automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of SCADA systems, sensors, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to perform mechanical and electrical duties as needed.

This role is a strong foundation for growth within the Water Resources Department. With proven performance and additional training, you could advance into roles such as:

Senior Electronic Technician; Instrumentation & Controls Specialist; Maintenance Supervisor; Operations Manager

We’ll assist you in developing the skills and experience required to progress your career in public service. 



Minimum Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree 
    •  "OR" an equivalency of a High School Diploma with 10 years of work experience in the Industrial Electronics (e.g., maintenance and/or repair experience in analog and digital electronic equipment, pumps, motors, wiring, lighting, and chemical systems).
  • Valid Driver's License
  • 7 years of maintenance and/or repair experience in analog and digital electronic equipment, pumps, motors, wiring, lighting, and chemical systems, or directly related experience.
  • Ability to obtain the following certification within 18 months of hire date:
    • Grade 1 Biological WPC System Operators
    •  Certified Control Systems Technician Level
    • NC Limited Electrical License

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Grade 1 Biological WPC System Operators
  • Certified Control Systems Technician Level 
  • NC Limited Electrical License
