Athletic Program Specialist: Under supervision from the Athletics Supervisor, this position is responsible for planning, organizing, supervising, and delivering athletic and recreational programs for individuals of all ages and abilities. The role includes managing assigned facilities, ensuring safe and high-quality experiences, and supporting year-round programming. The position serves the residents of Greenville and neighboring communities and reports directly to the Athletics Supervisor.
Essential Functions:
- Supervise program areas and maintain a safe, welcoming environment for patrons.
- Supports evening, weekend, and holiday operations including staff scheduling, site supervision, customer service, and other related duties.
- Develops, plans, and manages athletic leagues and recreational programs for youth and adults.
- Utilizes department software for registrations, scheduling, and league coordination.
- Helps manage relationships with referees, officials, volunteers, and parents to provide a venue for a welcoming and cooperative athletic program.
- Monitor facility use and enforce rules while ensuring compliance with city policies, safety procedures, and departmental standards.
- Assist with staffing, set-up, cleaning, and trash removal for athletic field reservations.
- Assist Supervisor in other duties as assigned.
- Support special events, citywide initiatives, and seasonal programs as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required, Associate's or Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a related field preferred.
- One (1) year of experience in recreation, youth programs, customer service, or a related field.
- CPR/First Aid certification (or the ability to obtain within six months of hire).
- Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Valid Texas Driver's License

Physical Requirements:
- Continuously lift and carry up to 10 pounds.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds.

- Frequently sit, bend and kneel during the shift.
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees.
- Frequently rotate the upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing.
- Frequently reach above, at or below shoulder height.
- Coordinate eye, hand and foot movement to operate a vehicle or equipment.??
Starting Pay Rate: $20.38 hourly/$42,390.40 annually
