What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Information Officer position at City of Hallandale Beach?

Responsible for executing effective programs to inform and educate the public and news media about information concerning the City and the Hallandale Beach Community Redevelopment Agency (HBCRA). Responsible for leveraging the communication channels for the City and building awareness of City programs, notifications, events and opportunities for City stakeholders. Work is performed under minimal supervision with latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment based on professional education and previous experience.

Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communication, Graphic Design, Advertising, or related field; supplemented by two years’ experience in public relations/public information, experience in government operations preferred, but not required; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience. 

 

Must have National Incident Management System (NIMS) certification (level to be determined by job classification requirements), or obtain within one year of employment. Must have a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record throughout employment.

 

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications listed above, an individual must be able to perform each of the established essential functions in order to perform this job successfully.

 

In order to move on to the next phase of the application screening process, you must attach proof of education.   

Applicants who demonstrate they meet the minimum requirements may be subject to an extensive selection process and screening program, which may include, but not be limited to, evaluation of training and experience background investigation; medical evaluation; controlled substance screen.
 
Applicants are required to sign an affidavit for non-use of tobacco products in order to be considered for employment.

Salary : $75,000 - $94,000
