What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Events Assistant position at City of Helotes?
Join the vibrant team at the City of Helotes as a Fun Ambassador, also known as Special Event Staff! With over 20 exciting events annually, averaging 1 to 4 events per month, we're seeking individuals who can adapt to flexible shift schedules. As a part-time member of our team, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring each event is a memorable experience for vendors and the public alike.
Responsibilities include assisting with setup and takedown, vendor coordination, and providing assistance to event attendees. Given that many of our events take place outdoors, staff members should be prepared to work in various weather conditions, from scorching heat to chilly temperatures, depending on the season.
While not all staff will be scheduled for every event, we value individuals with flexible availability. Staff members may find themselves working as infrequently as once a month, depending on event schedules. For a comprehensive list of annual events, please visit our City website at https://www.helotes-tx.gov/departments/public-relations/.
Our flagship event, the Helotes MarketPlace, held on the first Saturday of each month in Old Town Helotes, demands the most attention from our team. Typically, staff members work 6-hour shifts in either the morning or afternoon, with the possibility of extended hours on occasion. Duties during the MarketPlace include setup and takedown, guest and vendor assistance, booth organization, cleaning, and more. Additionally, events such as the Christmas Parade and Cornyval Parade require a significant level of dedication and focus from our staff. Duties during these parades include setup and takedown, crowd control, participant coordination, and ensuring the smooth flow of the event. Join us in making every event a success!
