About our Department:
The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.
General Services HVAC Technician Position Overview:
This is journey level commercial and industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning work performing maintenance, repair, and installation work on facilities and equipment. Work involves performing HVAC repair, maintenance, and installation work on buildings and machinery in City owned facilities, parks, and recreational buildings.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma or GED certificate; experience and proficiency in HVAC at the journeyman level; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
Possession of a valid State of Alabama certified journeyman HVAC certificate or an equivalent amount of years of experience as a journeyman.
Must pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within twelve (12) months of hire and/or promotion date.
May require possession of a Freon certification card depending on job assignments.
