About our Department:
The Information Technology Service Department’s primary responsibilities are in the areas of providing information technology, developing and implementing recommended standards for information technology, developing and maintaining security policies and systems and coordinating the acquisition of information technology for all City Departments. Our goal is to provide the best data processing services to the City through the effective utilization of existing and new information technology. The ITS Department will implement and support technologies and processes that will increase service to City employees and enhance staff productivity.
IT Technician II Position Overview:
This is technical work involving installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing various network, computer and telecommunication, devices and equipment for the employees of the City of Huntsville. Work involved in this position includes, but is not limited to, hardware and software setup and on-site maintenance of user workstations, installation and configuration of network software, maintenance and use of email service, Internet, and computer installations and configurations, on-call troubleshooting and on-site training of users.
Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:
High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency is required. Some college experience with a background in computer science is desired. Microsoft Certification is desired. Within the last six (6) years, the individual must have three (3) years' experience and knowledge of personal computers, software applications, hardware devices, the Internet, Email, and networking theories and practices.
Must be able to obtain an CJIS certification within 12 months of start date and maintain CJIS certification thereafter.
Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application and polygraph examination.
Must submit to a fingerprinting background check.
Valid driver's license and good driving record
