What are the responsibilities and job description for the Parks Maintenance Crew Leader - Golf Course position at City of Jefferson?
Performs building and grounds maintenance and construction on City-owned property and facilities including buildings, bathrooms, golf course, and irrigation systems.
Instructs and assists in daily tasks such as mowing greens, tees, fairways and rough; raking and edging sand bunkers; changing pin locations; rolling greens; hand watering; blowing leaves; filling water coolers; emptying trash cans and moving tee blocks.
Performs mowing, painting, minor carpentry, plumbing, electrical, fabrication, grading and seeding, tree trimming, and removal of waste materials.
Applies fertilizer and pesticide applications in a safe and accurate manner. Ability to identify common turf insects and disease, understand labels and rate calculations.
Instructs and assists in turf maintenance practices to include: aerating, verticutting, top-dressing, seeding, checking and maintaining adequate moisture levels in greens.
Uses heavy and light equipment, and hand tools to perform functions, including mower, weedeater, chainsaw, brush hog, ditch witch, trencher, chipper, backhoe, tandem dump truck, skid loader, bobcat, and trucks.
Maintains water distribution system and golf course irrigation system.
Performs snow and ice removal at the City owned Golf Course.
Sets up and tears down for City special events and activities.
Performs repairs and preventive maintenance on equipment.
Performs work in a safe manner, securing work site and following work zone safety rules, wearing safety equipment including glasses, boots, gloves, hearing protection, helmets, and harnesses.
Maintains good public relations with customers.
Maintains accurate, reliable records of daily work, equipment used, worksites, and projects.
Inspects work progress, equipment, and turf to verify safety or to ensure crews are performing work according to specifications and standards.
Physical: Ability to work in extreme weather conditions; lift, carry, push and pull up to 100 pounds stand for extended periods; and operate various parks equipment including: backhoes, loaders, bobcat, tandem dump truck, brush hog, skid loader, ditch witch, and trenching equipment.
Mental: Ability to be on call 24 hours a day for emergency purposes; follow directions; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; and organize equipment requirement necessary for daily jobs.
Requires a high school diploma and five years' experience directly involved with golf course maintenance, athletic field maintenance, commercial turf and grounds maintenance, or closely related field.
Requires a Missouri CDL Class A & B license with air brakes and tank endorsements.
Requires a Missouri Certified Pesticide Applicator License within 6 months of hire.
