What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pool Manager position at City of Kerrville?
Responsible for the operation and management of city-owned pool(s), including supervision of assigned staff, programs, and special events. This position will ensure the daily safety, comfort, and satisfaction of all customers using the city's aquatic facilities.This information is intended to be descriptive of the principal duties and responsibilities of the position. - Supervise assigned personnel to include day-to-day duties, managing disputes, assigning and enforcing disciplinary actions, if necessary, etc.
- Manage scheduling of asst. pool managers, lifeguards, and cashiers.
- Assist the Recreation Manager in implementing and following the comprehensive Aquatic Risk Management Program as required by Ellis & Associates and the facility’s Emergency Action Plan.
- Maintain records as required by the Parks and Recreation Department, City, County, and State.
- Monitor and ensure the safety and enforcement of all pool facility rules.
- Perform basic life support skills as necessary.
- Maintain accurate accountability for cash drawer and cash deposits.
- Lead in-service training for staff.
- Supervise and coordinate recreational activities and events of the pool.
- Supervise inventory recording of pool supplies, first-aid equipment, and rescue equipment.
- Manage all assigned functions of swimming pool operations.
- Maintain general appearance and cleanliness of assigned area and supervise general housekeeping of assigned area
- Maintain water safety equipment.
- Must answer phone calls and have an understanding of general facility programming and operations.
- Respond to requests and inquiries from the public.
- Leads physical conditioning of entire staff, including self.
- Perform chemical readings on pH, chlorine levels and water temperature.
- Assist the Recreation Manager in decision-making concerning facility closures during adverse conditions.
- Must be prepared to fill in at any and all positions at the pool, as needed.
- Assist Recreation Manager with gathering and producing marketing / promotional content.
- Performs other duties as may be assigned.

- Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent; some college is preferred
- Possession of a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License.
- Must have completed a minimum of one season as Lifeguard.
- 20/25 vision or better with corrective lenses.
- Jeff Ellis & Associates ILTP (International Lifeguard Training Program) License - training provided on-site at the applicant’s expense.
- Experience in water safety.
- Experience in public relations.
- Experience planning and conducting recreational activities and/or events preferred.
- Minimum of one-year supervisory experience preferred.
- Jeff Ellis Swim Instructor certification preferred.
