What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEGISLATIVE AIDE position at City of Long Beach?
The Office of Councilmember Kristina Duggan is looking for an independently motivated individual who cares about the City of Long Beach and 3rd District to join the team as a Legislative Aide. Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the role of the Legislative Aide is to coordinates the councilmember’s schedule, assist in office operations and communication, assist with resident case works, and assist with district events.

Councilmember Duggan was elected to the Long Beach City Council in November 2022 and was sworn in December 20, 2022 as the 3rd District representative of the Long Beach City Council. Along-time business owner and community leader in the 3rd District, Councilmember Duggan is passionate about her neighborhood, community service, educating our youth, public safety, and maintaining the vibrancy of Long Beach’s business community. The City of Long Beach requires all employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19 prior to their first day of employment unless a medical or religious accommodation is approved by the City of Long Beach’s Human Resources Department.
Assist Councilmember with scheduling appointments, committee meetings, and
community meetings and events.
This position is an exempt, at-will position. The incumbent will not accrue any civil service tenure or contractual employment rights in such position. The Legislative Aide is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of the Council Office, and may be removed without cause.

- Provides customer service and assistance to residents with questions, comments or complaints, which may include ongoing casework.
- Assist in office operations and communications such as answering phone calls, checking voicemails, managing and ordering office supplies, and other administrative tasks.
- Managing 3rd District email and phone line.
- Attend meetings and events with and on behalf of the Councilmember.
- Attend meetings and events in the evenings and on the weekend as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
