Work involves the studying of routine administrative problems and development of procedures designed to improve efficiency. Employee may serve as a supervisor, staff assistant and/or public contact employee or perform a combination of these activities in accordance with set policies and guidelines. Supervisory responsibilities may include overseeing the activities of a small group of subordinate employees engaged in a variety of support or operational activities. Supervision is received through general and specific work assignments; employee is allowed latitude for independent judgment, usually following established methods and procedures.
Within guidelines set by supervisor, establishes procedures in handling administrative details.
Administers an operational program within the guidelines set by ordinance or other legislative actions.
In accordance with detailed instructions, may serve as supervisor's representative at meetings and on committees.
May serve as liaison between supervisor and other departments or division's; supervises and assists subordinates in routine public contract work.
Assists with the preparation and administration of the annual budget for a department.
Compiles data for and prepares monthly, annual and special reports.
Performs related research work and participates in specialized projects.
Performs other related work as required.
A minimum of 60 college credits and two (2) years experience in a variety of responsible, administrative assignments, preferably in the public sector.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond a high school diploma or its equivalent and two (2) years of the required experience.
Special Note:
Depending on the hiring department and area of assignment, payroll experience is preferred.

If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts must be submitted. Submitted transcripts must include the following: student's name, school name, number of credits, degree completion, and major. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:
- An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
- A current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), OR
- A current member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE), OR
- A recognized Professional Organization

City of Miami residents are granted selection preference over non-City of Miami residents within the same ranking band resulting from an interview process.
Selection Preference: Selection preference within the same ranking band resulting from an interview process will be granted in the following order: 1) preference eligible veterans, 2) active City of Miami employees, 3) City of Miami residents, 4) all others.
