THIS RECRUITMENT IS A SUPPLEMENTAL POSTING TO THE ORIGINAL RECRUITMENT.
This is responsible work in performing moderate to difficult public contact work in the areas of Public Relations, Facilities Promotions and Conferences and Conventions, Community Information or Media Relations which reports to the Director of Parks and Recreation or designee.
Work of this nature may involve writing speeches; proclamations, commendations and letters; writing reports or news articles, researching and disseminating public information concerning events; obtains department director or designee approval for release of any promotional materials; may assist in developing brochures, City calendars, pamphlets or other related materials. An employee should have the ability to deal with the public effectively and tactfully. Responsibility for public/community or media relations functions. This position reports to a higher level administrator; an incumbent in this position writes and edits speeches, proclamations, commendations and letters; writes and edits reports or news articles; researches and disseminates public information concerning events; assists in developing City brochures, calendars or other related materials; proofreads documents for grammar, punctuation, spelling, and language usage; oversees public, community or media relations functions; attends events and ascertains compliance according to contracts and agreements; performs related work
A minimum of 60 college credits and two (2) years of experience in public contact work in the area of public relations, journalism or community information.
OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience beyond high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of the required experience.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, evenings, and nights.

Foreign diplomas/degrees must be submitted with a credential evaluation report from an approved credential evaluation agency*. Translations of diploma/degrees are not accepted. If degree/diploma does not reflect the academic major on its face, transcripts indicating degree completion must be submitted. If submitting transcripts, submitted transcripts must include the following: student's name, school name, number of credits, degree completion, and major. Audit/Academic reports are not accepted as substitutions for college transcripts.
To qualify under the equivalency clause, applicant must provide proof of education in one or more of the following applicable forms: copy of high school diploma or its equivalent or Bachelor's degree or higher.
*Approved Credential Evaluation Agencies:
Credential evaluation reports showing the United States equivalency for academic credentials earned in other countries may be provided by:
- An accredited four-year college or university in the United States, OR
- A current member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES), OR
- A current member of the Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE), OR
- A recognized Professional Organization
