What are the responsibilities and job description for the LIFT STATION MECHANIC I position at City of Miramar?
This entry level position maintains and repairs the City's wastewater lift stations to ensure continuous service to residents. Assists other work crews as required. Reports to the Lift Station Supervisor.
- Troubleshoots electrical and mechanical problems; repairs pumps, blowers, valves and other related components within the lift station facilities.
- Greases pumps; cleans sump pits. Cleans filter baskets.
- Participates in general lift station grounds/building maintenance work as assigned.
- Maintains accurate records of work in progress and records completed items.
- Performs all duties in accordance with established policies, procedures, codes, and standards of quality and safety.
- Operates a vehicle, truck, lawn mower, hydraulic crane, jet machine, mechanic's tools and electrician's tools. Maintains assigned equipment and tools.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other department heads and employees, other City employees, contractors, customers.
- Performs additional related duties as required and/or assigned.
- Requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent
- two (2) years of mechanical and/or general maintenance experience
- Must be able to obtain a wastewater collection class "C" certification within two (2) years of employment.
- Must obtain a CDL Class "B" license within one (1) year of employment.
