JOB SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the planning, coordination and implementation of senior programs designed to meet the needs of the community. Provides support to part-time Senior Center Aides. Organizes and supervises the senior activities and public. Reports to the Community Services Operations Manager or designee.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans, coordinates and implements programs, activities, and events, that meet the needs of the community, which may include, but are not limited to, senior programs, special benefit programs, trips, exercise programs, special events for seniors, various classes, and other programming.
- Organizes and supervises activities; directly supervises and interacts with seniors and the public during programs; ensures safety and resolves conflicts as required.
- Registers seniors and the community for programs; receives receipts and records program payments.
- Ensures staffing for special events, as scheduled.
- Transports seniors to and from events or programs, as required.
- Orders and/or prepares warehouse requisitions for equipment and supplies as needed.
- Sets up staging, tables and chairs, decorations, etc., for events and meetings as required; arranges refreshments, as necessary.
- Under supervision, solicits donations and sponsorships from local businesses and organizations.
- Assists in managing facility rentals.
- Assists in distributing publicity materials, as required.
- Prepares and maintains required records and reports in a timely and accurate manner.
- Complies with all applicable regulatory policies related to service delivery.
- Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints of customers and the general public.
- Monitors facility and equipment for safety and proper condition; prepares work orders for maintenance work as needed. Performs general housekeeping and light maintenance work as required.
- Performs general office duties as required, including attending meetings, preparing reports and correspondence, entering computer data, copying and filing documents, faxing information, answering the telephone, assembling materials, etc.
- Receives, reviews, prepares and/or submits various records and reports including maintenance reports, incident/accident reports, purchase orders, charts, timecards, memos, correspondence, etc.
- May operate City vehicles, including an 11-passenger van, and a variety of equipment such as a computer, printer, audio-visual equipment, calculator, copier, fax machine, telephone, laminator, etc.
- Interacts and communicates with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, co-workers, other City personnel, sales representatives, participants and their family members, community organizations, school personnel, and the general public.
- Assists in soliciting volunteers and picking up supplies, as needed.
- Performs related duties as assigned and/or required.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience in senior and/or social or community services programming and operations.
- First Aid and CPR certification within six (6) months of hire.
- Valid state of Florida Driver’s License.
- Successful completion of Level II background screening.

Emergency Management Responsibilities:
Note: During emergency conditions, all City of Miramar employees are automatically considered emergency service workers. City of Miramar employees are subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situation and are expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.
