RECREATION AIDE III (Part-Time/Seasonal)

This part-time position is responsible for aiding recreation program staff during summer camp activities which include field trips, sporting leagues, and/or special events at an indoor or outdoor recreation center, playground or other facility. Assists with planning, organizing and implementing activities for various summer recreation programs. Also responsible for ensuring the maintenance and upkeep of recreation facilities. Reports to a Recreation Site Supervisor or designee.

• Responsible for aiding program staff during summer recreational activities and other events, which may include but are not limited to summer camp, field trips, sporting leagues, special events, various classes, and other recreational programming.
• Ability to effectively communicate with children and adults.
• Sets up staging, tables and chairs, decorations, etc., for events and meetings as required; makes arrangements for refreshments as necessary.
• Staffs special events as scheduled.
• Observes and promotes all rules and regulations established by the City of Miramar.
• Implements and directs various programs and activities for children.
• Works with full-time employees to develop programs.
• Responsible for assuring the collection of all required documentation of services delivered.
• Assist in the implementation of special programs for programs for the Department.
• Prepare all necessary materials for events and programs.
• Responsible for the implementation of community programs.
• May be responsible for performing duties of field attendant, including lighting ball fields, lining fields, and other facility/park related tasks.
• Report safety hazards to supervisor, and assures all safety regulations and other requirements are adhered to.
• Must be flexible and able to work at various facilities and/or times including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Performs related work as required, including basic office functions such as answering phones, typing and basic clerical tasks.

• High school diploma or GED. College level courses in education, physical education, recreation or a related field preferred.
• One (1) year of experience working with children in a recreation facility leading public, private or commercial recreational activities.
• Valid Florida driver's license.
• Basic first aid and CPR certification desirable.
• Must successfully pass a level 2 background screening.
