Position Definition: Installs and maintains computer hardware, software and peripherals throughout the City in order to meet the City's data collection, analysis and processing needs. Provides end-user technical support either remotely or in person.

In-depth knowledge of and ability to install and maintain operating systems, database systems, Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook, anti-virus software, and virtual desktops. Thorough knowledge of TPC/IP and connectivity methodologies and wireless. Ability to work independently and research information to solve problems. Ability to diagnose hardware, software and applications problems and implement resolutions in a timely manner. Ability to write or explain procedures and instructions that can be clearly understood by lay person. Ability to work effectively with users, vendors and staff to resolve complex technical problems quickly and efficiently.Associate's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or other Computer Science degree. Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in installing and maintaining different types of hardware and software. In some cases, practical work experience may be substituted for an advanced education. License or Certificate: A Certification preferred.
This position is a Grade 16.
General Duties: Plans work according to standard procedures. Installs, services, troubleshoots and repairs City computers and related equipment, including software. Assists with network functions, as requested. Answers and responds to service calls and help desk requests generated by City personnel. Maintains a continuing log of all activities. Researches and recommends new hardware and software techniques to process data. Maintains equipment and software inventories. Prepares statistical, inventory, and narrative reports for Supervisor. Reports work accomplished to Supervisor. Performs other related duties as required. Maintains accurate, current, and complete equipment and software inventories.
Additional Duties: Maintains contact with vendors. Coordinates all defective hardware and software returns with City vendors and assures a quick and accurate response. Will be required to carry a cell phone in performance of duties. Is considered essential personnel in emergency situations.

Salary : $74,716 - $90,833
