Qualifications
Applicant must be a US Citizen between the ages of 18 through 35. Applicants must provide a high school diploma or GED. Applicant must obtain a TCFP Basic Firefighter Certification and DSHS Basic EMT Certification. No criminal history and no use of illegal drugs. Applicant must be able to pass a polygraph, psychological, and physical examination.
Miscellaneous Information
Firefighters work a 24 hour shift starting at 7 A.M. and are off duty for 48 hours. Firefighters get a 5 day break 6 times per year. Firefighters accrue 11 (24 hour) holidays per year. Firefighters get between 6 to 15 (24 hour) vacation days per year. The City of Orange pays 100% of every Firefighters health, dental, and life insurance. The City of Orange pays a monthly stipend for advanced certifications from TCFP and DSHS. Basic uniforms and equipment are provided to each Firefighter.
