Job Summary:
Receptionist and front counter responsibilities which include: Answers multi-line phone for City Hall and other City departments, communicates with internal and external customers, may assist various departments with general clerical tasks. Work is performed under the general supervision and direction of the City Clerk, and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Salary, Benefits, and Work Schedule
Salary:
$13.33 - $16.66 per hour, depending upon qualifications and experience
Benefits:
Regular part-time employees are eligible for pro-rated Sick Leave, Vacation & Holidays; Medical health insurance and retirement benefits are not included.
Preferred Schedule:
Two Part-Time vacancies; average 22 hours, and no more than 29 hours, weekly; some scheduling flexibility depending on individuals hired
- (1) Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., and every other Friday 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
- (2) Monday - Thursday 12:30 – 5:30 p.m., and every other Friday, 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Essential Functions
Includes, but is not limited to:
- Answers, screens and forwards incoming phone calls
- Greets and directs visitors to the appropriate person and office for required services
- Receives mail and delivery packages and routes to appropriate department
- Provides professional interaction with customers, internal or external, in person or via telephone
- Learns and explains City of Owasso and departmental policies, procedures, and general practices
- Retrieves information from various locations and sources when needed
- Assists other department staff with routine clerical tasks as requested
- Performs data entry duties
- Performs other duties as assigned in a positive manner which supports the vision and strategic objectives of the division/department and the entire organization of the City of Owasso
Position Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Prefer, though not required, minimum one (1) year of experience in a customer service environment dealing with the public, using computers and computer related equipment, that includes multi-tasking, public contact, and multi-line telephone communications
- Must have good customer service skills, with a helpful, friendly demeanor
- Must possess a positive attitude and good listening skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Grammatically correct English, sufficient to perform the essential functions of this position
- Demonstrate good character traits, including respect, dependable, punctual, patience, and thoroughness
- Organized and detail oriented
- Basic computer knowledge including data entry, MS Word, Excel and Outlook is a plus
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
Work will be performed in an indoor office setting in City Hall lobby, working independently, with team support, as needed.
Tasks may typically require some combination of sitting for long periods of time at a workstation, walking, reaching, repetitive motion, handling, feeling, hearing, and mental and visual acuity.
• Incumbent must maintain the following physical abilities
o See well enough to operate equipment, read directions, inspect work performed, and to view a computer screen and fine print, sometimes for sustained periods of time
o Hear well enough to converse on the phone or in person
o Use hands and fingers for operating required equipment, for answering the phone, using computer keyboard, and writing and filing
o Ability to operate a variety of equipment as required to perform essential functions of job
