Job Description Summary
Under general supervision, performs various water service billing operations activities. Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Processes utility payments; maintains and balances checks and a cash drawer daily.
Assigns routes to water meter readers; monitors reader activities; ensures customers are correctly billed.
Processes billings for each zone and prepares various reports and documents as needed.
Establishes new customer accounts; processes service orders, including water meter read on/off and turn on/off activities.
Changes the City's billing rates as necessary; ensures rates are accurate.
Processes billings for fire hydrant services.
Supports the relationship between the City of Plainview and the general public by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with citizens, visitors, and City staff; performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; AND one year of cash collection/clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in general utility billing operations and/or Incode software preferred. Physical Requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a traditional office environment. May be required to occasionally bend, reach, kneel and
lift items to retrieve or replace files, documents and records. May be required to lift and carry items weighing
up to 15 pounds. Knowledge and Skills (preferred)
