Job Details
Plano Parks and Recreation is looking for Recreation Aides. Below is a listing of the primary job responsibilities:
Our Recreation Aides are the front line of our facilities. They are the first contact for our patrons and set the tone for their experience. Qualities we are looking for include above and beyond customer service, professionalism, knowledge of the City of Plano, excellent phone skills, outstanding communication skills, and accurate typing and computer skills. Employees must also have the ability to set up and take down open play activities, move rooms for scheduled classes and rentals, organizational skills, attention to detail, strong cleaning abilities, and greeting each patron with a welcoming smile as they enter and exit the facility. Employees may also be asked to provide assistance in the Gazebo Café.
The target hourly rate is $14.19, depending on qualificatons.
Summary of Duties: Under close supervision, the Recreation Aide is responsible for providing assistance and support in the supervision of recreation programs, operations, and recreation center areas.
Examples Of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Management reserves the rights to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of: Parks and recreation policies and procedures; safety regulations policies, and practices; conflict resolution methods.
Skill in: Communicating clearly both verbally and in writing; completing basic mathematic calculations; interacting tactfully and professionally with the public and parks and recreation patrons.
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Experience: Six (6) months of previous customer service experience.
Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements
Licenses and Certifications: None. Ability to obtain CPR/AED certification within six months of employment.
Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, driver license check, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Work is performed throughout recreation facilities, standing in work areas and walking between work areas may be required. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate standard office equipment ; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone . Positions in this classification occasionally bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull. Employees may be required to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds .
Employees work in a public center environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Employees may interact with upset staff and/or public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures.
