Job Description
As the Public Works Department’s Engineering Manager, you will be at the helm of a team of outstanding engineering, construction, and facilities management professionals, guiding them to solve complex challenges, implement novel solutions, and contribute directly to ongoing transformation and development taking place within the City. As a key member of the Public Works Department leadership team, you will collaborate across departments and with outside entities, inspire innovation, and ensure that the City’s development and construction processes, standards, and criteria are up to date and effective. The Engineering Manager is an FLSA-exempt professional engineering position working under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works. The Engineering Manager is responsible for the efficient and effective employment of all resources entrusted to the Engineering Division and performs direct and indirect supervision of staff; review of all subdivisions and land use applications in order to assure compliance with the City’s Ordinances and construction standards; design and construction of public improvement projects initiated by the City; preparation of specifications and standards; evaluation of bids and proposals; drafting ordinances and resolutions for presentation to City Council; and the collection, filing, storage and maintenance of maps, plats, improvement drawings, and other documents pertaining to public improvements.
