What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Cadet position at City of Roseville (CA)?
The Human Resources Department is accepting applications for the temporary and part-time position of Police Cadet in the Roseville Police Department. This position is limited to 25 hours per week for a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year. The normal work schedule will vary and may include evenings and weekends. PERS retired annuitants are not eligible to apply.
DEFINITION
To perform a variety of routine and progressively more difficult non-sworn duties under direct supervision. Duties are performed on a rotational basis through various divisions of the Police Department in an apprenticeship program framework in preparation for a law enforcement career.

Experience and Training
Experience:
No experience is required.
AND
Training:
Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree
Current enrollment in at least nine (9) semester units at an accredited college or university.
AND
License or Certificate
Possession of a valid California driver’s license by date of appointment.
AND
Necessary Special Requirements
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must maintain an overall grade point average of 2.0 or better in college/university course work.
Employees must be tobacco free and cannot use tobacco products on or off duty.

SELECTION PROCESS
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant’s experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations.
Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process.
