As a Maintenance Crew Chief in our Conveyance & Distribution Department, you will participate in facilities and maintenance and repair activities, transportation and disposal operations. In addition to developing your skills, we have fun too!

- Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
- Provides technical guidance as leader of designated crew employees.
- Communicates safety rules and procedures to assigned crew members; monitors work to ensure compliance with applicable regulations; ensures that crew members are properly outfitted with safety glasses, gloves, masks, and steel-toed shoes.
- Assigns and assists with housekeeping duties, including removing trash, vacuuming carpets, mopping floors, waxing and buffing floors, cleaning windows, dusting fixtures, and replacing light bulbs.
- Performs skilled and lead work on medium and heavy equipment; safely operates any type of motorized equipment that excavates, loads, or moves dirt, gravel, or other material to maintain or construct streets, drainage, storm water infrastructure, and other public properties.
- Operates equipment for the disposal, processing, or transportation of waste or other materials.
- Inspects, cleans, and performs routine equipment preventive maintenance; ensures suitable operating condition.
- Assists in planning, coordinating, and scheduling storm water construction, maintenance and repair, or solid waste management activities; schedules, prioritizes, and assigns daily work orders to crews.
- Inspects job sites for compliance with health, safety, and transportation rules and regulations; ensures safe, efficient work methods and practices; makes changes to work orders to resolve problems; recommends alternative solutions.
- Directs crews to make emergency repairs; coordinates work with other utilities, contractors, City and State inspectors, customers, and any entity that is essential to completion of each assignment.
- Visually examines site and structures to determine extent of required remedial action; reports circumstances to superiors and notifies available qualified personnel and organizations.
- Performs emergency service on roads or storm water facilities in conjunction with other departments and agencies; ensures proper placement of barricades and warning signs.
- Maintains city pump station sites.
- Assists supervisor in training and orientation of less knowledgeable employees by explaining and demonstrating work performed.
- Instructs operators in safety precautions and procedure.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.
Must possess and maintain a valid state commercial driver's license with an acceptable driving history (dependent upon assigned department).
Work Location: 230 Agonic Rd Work Hours: 7 am - 3:30 pm, Monday - Friday
Additional Requirements
