What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Parking Enforcement position at CITY OF SOUTH HAVEN?
Responsible for patrolling parking areas and monitoring of paid and unpaid parking places at city beaches, boat launch, downtown central business district, and for issuing parking citations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Patrol parking areas and use vehicle mounted computer with license plate reader to monitor paid and unpaid parking places. Issue parking citations for vehicles parked unpaid in spots.
- Monitor connectivity of parking kiosks to payment processor.
- Change receipt paper in parking kiosks.
- Respond to questions from the public regarding the beach parking system or other general information.
- Wash the beach parking vehicle on an as needed basis.
- Monitor additional areas as assigned for potential ordinance violations and inform Code Enforcement of observed violations.
- Submit daily report of activities.
- Testify in court.
- Other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess clear written and verbal communication skills. Possess ability to make change and handle cash. Frequent contact with customers and other departments requiring courtesy, discretion, and sound judgment. Skilled in de-escalation techniques.
LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION
Possess current Michigan driver’s license and have a good driving record.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Use computer, vehicle mounted license plate reader, police radio, and tablet.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires the ability to walk for long periods of time, being outdoors in weather conditions. Ability to lift materials and supplies up to 25 pounds.
