The City of Spencer (2020 population of 11,273), located in northwestern Iowa in the bustling Iowa Great Lakes region, is seeking a Finance Director to be part of its executive management team.
Under the general direction of the City Manager, the Finance Director plans, organizes, and directs all financial activities of the City which has a $27 million annual operating and capital budget. This includes long-term financial forecasting, cash and debt management, rate analysis, budgeting, financial statement preparation, and supervision of the finance department.
The starting annual salary for this position is $99,378.73 to $111,646.87, depending on experience. The City offers a competitive benefits package including health, dental, life insurance, and eligibility for the IPERS retirement plan. In addition, relocation expenses may be provided for the successful candidate.
This position requires a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field and five to ten years of progressively responsible experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
