What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sanitation Service Worker (Residential) position at City of St. Petersburg?
This is manual work assisting in the performance of a wide variety of Sanitation services including driving sanitation collection equipment to and from the repair facilities and the resource recovery plant or recycling processor; assisting drivers of automated sanitation vehicles engaged in solid waste collection by moving containers into place and directing them when backing up; cleaning out the hopper and tailgate areas of debris and unacceptable materials; checking and adding oil, filling the fuel tank, bleeding air tanks; checking fluid levels; spreading oil absorbent material on the ground; and painting, repairing, assembling and delivering containers.
Salary: $16.47 - $22.15 Hourly

To Qualify
Minimum Qualifications. Applicants must:
- Possess and continue to maintain a valid State of Florida Class “B” Commercial Driver License.
- Be able to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Be able to read and follow a route map.
Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:
- Possess a valid high school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Preferred applicants have a background in heavy truck driving and mechanical maintenance.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT
The successful candidate must be either a resident of the City of St. Petersburg as of his or her date of appointment, or establish primary residency within the city limits of St. Petersburg within six months of completing the probationary period. Furthermore, as long as the successful candidate is employed in this classification, he or she must reside within the city limits of St. Petersburg. This requirement is not applicable to current City employees who were hired before October 20, 1997.
