What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Ice Skating Instructor position at City of Stevens Point?
Ice skating Instructors are responsible for teaching skating lessons and ice show routines to participants.
5 - 10 hours per week.
- Assist and/or lead ice skating lessons and be able to teach basic skating skills.
- Monitor proper use of equipment and ensure skaters have properly fitting skates.
- Assist in the planning and organization of the lessons.
- Provide patrons with the proper techniques needed to succeed in the development of their ice-skating skills.
- Provide a safe and fun environment that promotes enjoying the sport for exercise and fun.
- Instructors must maintain yearly coach compliance requirements through Learn to Skate USA and the United States Figure Skating Association.
- Must be able to maintain an effective working relationship with patrons, co-workers and and supervisors.
- Must be able to remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form.
- Ensuring and following safety measures and regulations.
- Must be able to work in a team.
- Must be able to teach ice skating skills and general fitness experience.
- Applicant should have previous ice skating instructor experience.
- Must be able to teach fundamental figure skating and/or hockey skating skills to children ranging in ages 3-18 years old as well as adults.
- Applicants would have to be available weekday evenings and weekends.
