What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRAFFIC SIGN AND STRIPING TECHNICIAN position at City of Surprise?
The City of Surprise seeks a positive, highly motivated traffic sign and striping technician to seize this opportunity to join its Transportation Department. This division staffs the City’s traffic engineering team, street repair and maintenance team, sign shop and traffic signals team. All teams work collaboratively with each other and with other city departments and residents to ensure that the City of Surprise grows safely and efficiently for the benefit of its residents and businesses. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to work in a team atmosphere, while working Monday thru Thursday from 5:00AM to 3:30PM while being subject to emergency call outs, night, and weekend work. SUMMARY
Incumbents perform semi-skilled activities in signing and pavement marking maintenance and installation, and equipment operations. Incumbents operate light to heavy equipment such as utility vehicles, forklifts, hydraulic sign installers, etc.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED, and one year of relevant general construction or public works experience. Additional education cannot be substituted for experience.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must have at the time of hire and be able to maintain a valid Arizona Driver License.
