BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to ensure that water and wastewater are in compliance with local, state and federal standards. This is accomplished by collecting samples and conducting testing, maintaining proper chemical balances, removing materials in water, operating, calibrating and monitoring equipment, documenting results, and maintaining equipment. Other duties include carrying out special tests, cleaning and maintaining work areas, and completing related work as assigned.
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS:
Driver’s License Required – Y Type - C
Class C Wastewater Operator License from the TCEQ
Individuals who do not have this license will be given twenty-four (24) months from hire date or promotion or four (4) failed attempts as a condition of employment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Mission Essential Position will be required to report for all inclement weather.
This position is expected to regularly work in or around bodies of water greater in depth than 4 feet, which may pose hazard, especially in the absence of swimming ability.
Employees of this classification must wear a self-contained breathing apparatus; thus, facial hair is prohibited.

1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice.
2 L Inspects plants and surrounding areas by observing, completing physical inspections, observing machinery, recording readings, checking chemical storage units, and making necessary adjustments.
3 L Treats water by changing raw water flow, setting chemical pumps, checking chemical tanks, checking feed lines and pumps, lime systems and water filters, adjusting lime slakers, changing chlorine settings, checking pump settings, adjusting filter washes, closing or opening drains, and observing chemical mixings.
4 L Collects water for testing and finishes tests by collecting at different dosages, adding chemicals, observing coagulation, and adjusting chemicals.
5 L Records information for incoming shifts by discussing next shift needs and plans, determining if current actions are adequate, and reviewing temperatures and weather.
6 L Stores and maintains chemicals by transferring chemicals, tracking chemicals consumed per shift, and documenting amounts used.
7 L Cleans and maintains all areas by cleaning equipment, stocking and storing supplies, and calibrating equipment.
