What are the responsibilities and job description for the INCOME MAINTENANCE CASEWORKER I position at Cleveland County?
The primary purpose of this position is to complete tasks and casework that support and aid in the effort to determine and redetermine the eligibility of an applicant/beneficiary in the Economic Services Department, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed and supervised under the Income Maintenance Supervisor II. The normal work schedule includes 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good mathematical reasoning and computational skills. Ability to communicate with clients, applicants, and the public to obtain data, and to explain rules and procedures. Ability to understand the needs and problems of applicants. Ability to learn the program area of assignment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Manages the intake logs and ensures equitable distribution of work assigned for Income Maintenance Programs.
Manages work queues within NC Fast
Prescreens and registers FNS simplified recertifications.
Works directly or indirectly with applicant/beneficiaries and authorized representatives to gather information needed to determine eligibility.
Processes incoming and outgoing mail for the Economic Services Department.
Manages special reports for the economic services department.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:
Graduation from high school or GED and 1 year of clerical, customer service and/or public contact experience. Experience should include any of the following: negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering, and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical or legal tasks; or graduated with an associates or bachelors degree.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This work requires the occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force; work regularly requires sitting, speaking or hearing and using hands to finger, handle or feel, frequently requires repetitive motions and occasionally requires standing, walking and reaching with hands and arms; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels; work requires operating machines and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a quiet location (e.g. library, private offices).
