What are the responsibilities and job description for the Benefits Administrator position at Cleveland State University?
Supports Cleveland State University’s (CSU) employee benefit programs, including health, wellness, and retirement plans for employees. Delivers high-level customer service through a variety of communication channels, assisting employees with eligibility, enrollment, and claims inquiries. Serves as a liaison between our employees and the carriers and will be responsible for maintaining compliance and data integrity across all systems. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in HR, business administration, or related field.
- Experience in benefit administration.
- Related work experience may be substituted for education requirement. One (1) year of related work experience can be substituted for one (1) year of education. For example, a candidate with a high school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent and four (4) years of related work experience can be eligible to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, and other laws affecting benefit programs, including ACA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, and Section 125.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability develop and deliver effective presentations.
- Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a “Customer Focus” attitude and delivery.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion.
- Ability to use affective judgment and related methodology.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective collaborator, in addition to being self-directed and forward-thinking.
- Ability to set priorities and organize work in order to accomplish assigned tasks.
- Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion and good judgement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
