Summary of Position
- Verify all new patients’ insurance authorizations both primary and secondary payors.
- Verify accuracy of data entry for all new patients.
- Ensure that all information is gathered and the referral is appropriate for the care being potentially provided.
- Verify the patient is eligible for service(s) and prior approval has been granted before initiating services.
- Provide necessary paperwork to accurately bill accounts; and other duties as assigned.
- Collect insurance policy IDs and verifying benefits and checking price estimates for procedures scheduled.
- Notify patients of estimated charges based on claims processed to date.
- Explain patient’s deductibles and out of pocket expenses as necessary.
- Document all contact with patients, doctors, and insurance companies in Vision.
- Other Duties could include:
- Pre-registration and registration of patients, receiving and directing incoming calls. This position is also the back up person to the front desk.
Qualifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent.
- Medical terminology and coding courses.
- Two years experience in the medical office setting preferably with surgical scheduling responsibilities and extensive public contact.
- Minimum one (1) year experience as an Insurance Verification Representative.
