Summary of Position
The Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) is directly responsible to the Staff PT and/or the PT Director. The PTA carries out the plan of care and progresses the patient through rehab as set forth by the treating physical therapist.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved Physical Therapy Assistant program.
- Possess a current Physical Therapy Assistant license
- BLS/CPR Certified

- Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects up to 50 pounds. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of job.
- Must have coordination of sight and body movements in various applications and procedures; ability to handle the tools of the profession; good physical stamina; fairly strong, energetic, much walking, standing, writing, stooping, carrying, talking, seeing, bending, handling.
- A healthy back is necessary; able to stoop, lift, balance, pull, carry. The degree to which any of this is done depends on the techniques being used.
- The ability to walk, stand, stoop, lift, balance, sit, kneel, hear, reach, pull, talk, see, turn, carry, push, handle and write. The degree to which any of these is done depends of the techniques being used.
- Working Conditions: This individual spends 95% of his/her time inside an air-conditioned work area with adequate light; usually works around others; no unusual hazardous risks; may be exposed to muscular strain when lifting; may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens.
