Coeur Rochester, a subsidiary of Coeur Mining Inc. (CRI) based near Lovelock, Nevada is seeking a Refinery/ Process Planning General Supervisor to join our team at the Rochester Mine.
Position Summary
Responsible for implementing and overseeing the successful, safe execution of the mine plan in an open pit operation, and all other services associated with mine production projected within budgetary goals.
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the safe implementation and execution of the mine plan.
- Responsible for ensuring a safe workplace while enforcing safety, environmental, and company procedures and guidelines.
- Identifying areas where improvement to safety performance is necessary and initiating/instilling this change within the appropriate teams and areas.
- Direct and manage all mine production activities including planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, and profitability.
- Effectively communicating and coordinating with peers the appropriate operating conditions, expectations, and targets for efficient shift change/hand over.
- Develop and manage business improvement projects.
- Collaborate with geology and engineering in the development of achievable mine plans incorporating safe design criteria and optimal mining configurations.
- Collaborate with mine maintenance in creating PM schedules, prioritizing repair work, and implementing reliability improvements.
- Support operational objectives by minimizing risk and maximizing value through contract administration of contractors with focus on value, cost reduction, and risk management.
- Ensure production outcomes result from safe work practices and in full cooperation with all other work groups.
- Foster an accident free and safe working environment. Promote crew safety meetings, area safety inspections, and provide training to process personnel on an ongoing basis. Evaluate equipment operators on job performance as required.
- Taking ownership over efficient/effective problem solving, decision making, and action at the right levels.
- Ensuring roles and responsibilities are clearly understood and setting performance targets which encourage the necessary/desired behaviors and accountability.
- Actively listening and observing to determine where more attention/support is required, while maintaining an engaging work climate for everyone.
- Seeking coaching from leaders and working collaboratively with peers.
- Develop and deliver performance reviews for assigned staff.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum of eight (8) years progressive experience within the mining industry with five (5) years’ direct supervisory experience required.
- Five (5) years Open Pit experience in a leadership capacity required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mine Engineering, related field of study, or relevant experience preferred.
- Understanding of Open Pit safety and production targets required.
- A good understanding of operations and the ability to instill good operational work practices in their team.
- Passion and enthusiasm to continually improve - safety, production, and quality.
- A genuine interest in people and people development, someone who can authentically communicate and bring out the best in people.
- A strong work ethic, dedication to their teams, peers, and business objectives.
- Adaptable, flexible, and resilient.
- Excellent communication skills to lead a team of operators and liaise between operations / maintenance.
- Excellent planning, problem solving, decision making, and organizational skills required.
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Familiarity with business software applications such as Oracle required.
- Demonstrated ability to perform essential function of the position.
