What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pastry chef/Baker Assistant position at Coffee/Bakery/Sandwich shop?
Lou, The French on The Block is a mom and pop that has quickly become the talk of the town for foodies and pastries lovers alike! We were just named Yelp's number one restaurant in all of Los Angeles. With our authentic French pastries, delicious gourmet coffee and fresh-baked baguette sandwiches, quiches and ever growing popularity, we are looking for dedicated, professional baker/pastry chef assistant . We are currently looking for quality-minded, reliable, happy individuals with strong organizational and multitasking skills to start immediately.
What we are looking for...
- Experience working as a baker
- Experience with French baking / french pastry a plus
- Must be comfortable working quickly and positively in a team environment
- Able to work early shifts
- Prior experience in high volume kitchen
- Be a team player
- Looking for long term position, involved in a growing company, possibility for rapid growth
- Maintain a positive attitude and have excellent communication skills
- Adaptable and are able to thrive in a team environment.
- Ability to shift gears quickly and multitask.
- Handle pressure with ease
Minimum qualifications required:
- One or more years of experience as a Baker/Pastry chef assistant
- Able to communicate effectively with managers and kitchen personnel
- Able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 40 pounds
- Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
- candidates in (or freshly graduated) Culinary schools with no experience yet are welcome to apply.
This candidate will be able to back-up fellow employees where and when needed to ensure guest service standards and efficient operations.

Pay: $16.00 - $22.00 per hour
