ABOUT THIS POSITION
Summary: The Event Coordinator plans and manages all events for the Alumni Association and Career Services. This position assists the Director of Career Services and Alumni Engagement with career services and alumni event logistics, engagement strategies, soliciting and collecting updated data on alumni and class notes for the Maverick Magazine.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
- Plans, coordinates and implements all events in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Career Services and Alumni Engagement and works with volunteers in supporting event functions.

Responsible for arranging and negotiating vendor contracts for alumni and career services events.

Uses independent judgment to solve event issues and complaints.

Provides support to Alumni Chapters including marketing, financial reporting and event management.

Responsible for development and management of alumni and career services event budgets.

Monitors and responds to the Career email account.

Serves as a backup for the Career Services Center front desk as necessary.

Assists in the supervision and training of all student staff.

Manages student workers on event team.
- Obtains and maintains special event permit for campus events. Support student clubs with permitting and planning of special events.
- Supports campus departments and student organizations by providing event guidance and department account information on a quarterly basis.
- Develops effective written communication in writing and orally with individuals and groups.

Represents the Foundation at events in order to support the University and cultivate donors.

Able to work evenings and weekends as needed, as well as some limited travel.
Minimum Qualifications Required:
-
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

Experience writing and editing, as well as excellent oral and interpersonal skills
-
Knowledge of office and productivity software; proficiency with the Microsoft Suite

Experience in event logistics and management and have the ability to advocate for public higher education and Colorado Mesa University in particular; and possess a high standard of professional integrity.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. -
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in higher education fund-raising or event management as well as marketing content creation and graphic design
