Distribution Center Safety and Support Specialist
**Reports To: **DC Manager or Designee
**Location: **Palmetto, GA
Job Summary: The Distribution Center Safety and Support Specialist is the backbone of the facility, working directly with management and staff to maintain productivity, safety, and general facility operations including, monitoring Maintenance Repair and Operation’s needs (MRO). The Safety and Support Specialist will take actions needed for the upkeep of the facility to keep the production process running smoothly, monitor safety by anticipating, identifying and evaluating hazardous conditions and practices, and assist in training workers on site in all aspects of safety. Administers and operates the organization’s warehouse, including efficient shipping, receiving, processing, storing of product, and ordering supplies as needed.
**Primary Responsibilities: **
- Manage MRO for entire facility
- Develop relationships with local contractors for needs such as forklift maintenance, electrical, heating and cooling, etc.
- Conducts new hire safety training
- Assists with forklift training and certification
- Conducts routine safety walks, inspections, and observations with applicable reporting and follow up
- Print and assign pick tickets to team daily
- Check status of Past Due orders and expedite inventory where possible
- Tracks missed shipments
- Abides by all established organizational policies, rules, and regulations
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Experience:
- Knowledge of OSHA safety practices and standards
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a warehouse, or distribution setting
- Working knowledge and proficiency using a computer and related Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently
Skills/Requirements:
- Ability to lead, problem solve, meet team goals
- Well organized and detail oriented
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Forklift certified or ability to become certified
- Able to effectively train new hires in standard practices and safety guidelines\
- Working knowledge of Epicor preferred but not required
**Education: **
- High school diploma or equivalent required
