Columbia Energy & Environmental Services, Inc. (Columbia Energy) has been in business for over 30 years. We began as an engineering firm in support of nuclear cleanup operations for the U.S. Department of Energy at Hanford in Richland, Washington. We have progressively grown from our origins into a full-service engineering and fabrication company providing cost-effective solutions in the nuclear, defense, energy, and hazardous waste industries.
We are an established small business headquartered in Richland, Washington. We offer full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, electrical, database and software engineering, technology development, and geophysics/subsurface imaging. We also have facilities in Tucson, Arizona and Aiken, South Carolina. We are presently licensed to provide engineering within the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and South Carolina.
Currently there is an opening for 1 additional Senior Mechanical Designer. The Senior Mechanical Designer is responsible for developing finished designs of piping systems and mechanical equipment working within a project team from concept to the completion of fabrication and installation in the field. Job Responsibilities/Essential Duties:
- Ability to work within a project team, take direction, and lead others professionally.
- Work with project teams to originate piping and mechanical designs.
- Experience designing Hanford piping systems including Jumpers, Pipe in Pipe, Tank Waste Retrieval Systems.
- Ability to work to ASME drafting standards and client standards.
- Ability to create fabrication drawings with minimal oversight.
- Knowledge of metal fabrication process including welding, machining tolerances, water jet and plasma cutting.
- Incorporate engineering comments into drawings.
- Originate and incorporate shop red lines to drawings.
- Work well in a fast pace environment.
- Experience creating Engineering Change Notice and Drawing Change Notice (ECN/DCN) for Hanford drawings.
- Ability to follow specifications outlined in proposed projects to ensure that overall production goal is achieved.
- Aptitude for problem solving and on the job learning.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- 2 Year degree in Drafting or Engineering Technology
- 12 years’ relevant experience
- Must be a US citizen
