Summary/Objective
Sell and serve food and drinks in a professional manner.
Essential Functions
- Must obtain up to date Food Safety and OLCC documentation.
- Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone, and body language always. Make guests feel appreciated through bartender's actions. Welcome guests as soon as possible when they are seated.
- Work as a team with all Riverside personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.
- Work with others to keep all areas always cleaned and stocked to Riverside’s standards.
- Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining room following standard recipes.
- Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for drinks served and make change.
- Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with Riverside’s standards.
- Wash and sterilize stemware.
- Place current bar tabs in front of guests at all times.
- Anticipate your guest's needs. Follow the half-full rule when offering another drink. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, making eye contact, etc.), and acknowledge the guest to let them know the bartender will be right with them.
- Serve alcohol responsibly. Should a guest reach the state where the bartender does not feel the guest should drive, supply a taxi. Do not hesitate to ask for management intervention if necessary.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This position operates in a restaurant setting. The noise level in the work environment can be loud. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, falls and burns. Frequent hand washing is required.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching. The position may require occasional lifting of products weighing up to 20 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- State applicable health and/or alcohol compliance card.
- Must be of legal age according to state regulations to serve alcohol.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Prior server experience.
