What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Advisor position at Commonwealth of Pennsylvania?
As a Special Education Advisor, you will be responsible for state-wide work including administration, management, and operation of the Director's Office, with a focus on the provision of a FAPE to all students with disabilities. Work includes providing advisory and consultative services to agency groups, charter schools, school districts, and intermediate units through planning, monitoring, improvement, and evaluation of special education programs and services. While acting as the Restraint Information Collection System (RISC) Manager you will have the opportunity to manage system development, conduct training, report management, restraint reviews, and prepare the annual RISC report for the Secretary of Education. This position also has statewide monitoring responsibilities and serves as a Bureau of Special Education (BSE) liaison to various statewide agency groups focusing on the improvement of programs and services for students with disabilities.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, home headquartered
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Five years of professional experience in special education including two years as an administrator of a special education program; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training, which includes two years as an administrator of a special education program.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
