Information Technology Generalist Administrator 1

In this role, you will oversee our Linux/Unix Team members as they complete tasks and projects for the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers. Your knowledge and skills help us provide the high availability and performance that the Commonwealth agencies we support need to effectively serve all people in Pennsylvania. Our team will rely on you to provide system administrator services; monitor server performance and patch levels; and diagnose, research, and resolve hardware and software problems on servers. Leadership and collaborative abilities will be key for working closely with networking, security, and application development teams to ensure seamless integration of Linux/Unix systems across the IT environment, as well as coordinating escalated technical support activities. In particular, this position is charged with maintaining security standards and reviewing new technologies. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time, with one in-office day per month. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year as an Information Technology Generalist 2, Applications Developer 2, Database Analyst, Information Security Specialist 1, or Network Specialist 2(Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or 
• Five years of information technology experience that includes two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services; or 
• Three years of information technology experience that includes two years of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field; or 
• One year of technical information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, network operation or network maintenance, web site development or web site design, database maintenance or database development, data analysis and data model development, administration of information technology security programs, or other information technology support/administration services, and a bachelor's degree in any information technology field; or 
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

• This particular position also requires two or more years of full-time professional experience working with Linux Operating System.
