Ensures implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for assigned infants and toddlers. Provides input to the Teacher One on individual needs of assigned children to ensure appropriate classroom planning.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ensure that all program policies, procedures and activities as defined in the agency policies and procedures are followed.
- Conduct and document all children’s health, developmental, and nutrition screenings according to agency policies and procedures.
- Report all suspected Child Abuse to the Child Abuse Hotline at 1-800-252-5400 and adhere to agency policy.
- Ensure that curriculum and classroom environments are developmentally appropriate in each class every day, and that lesson plans are maximizing instructional time, including afternoon instruction.
- Ensure that all adult to child interactions in the center are positive, appropriate and respectful according to the Head Start Program Guidance and Discipline Policies and Standards of Conduct, Conscious Discipline, and CLASS approach.
- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum in the class every day making sure that all required activities (ex. transportation, safety, and mental health) are included
- Work as a team with other adults in the classroom so that children are primarily engaged in appropriate activities.
- Completes all documentation as directed in the agency policies and procedures including but not limited to developmental and behavioral screenings, assessments, and Texas School Ready! Project.
- Interact with parents respectfully and include them as partners in their children’s education.
- Maintain good relationships with community partners including but not limited to local ISDs, ECI, public libraries, health care providers and volunteers.
- Be familiar with and maintain compliance with all standards including but not limited to the Head Start Performance Standards, Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Child Care Centers, Texas School Ready! Project (if applicable), the State Department of Health Services, and local health, fire and safety agencies.
- Attend all meetings as required and participate in required professional growth opportunities.
- Remain compliant with all Child Care Licensing and agency standards with regard to professional development including but not limited to CPR & First Aid certification, Bloodborne Pathogens, child abuse and transportation.
- Arrives on time and works designated hours (unless otherwise specified by immediate supervisor).
- Flexibility with work schedule and location as needed based on program needs.
- Provide appropriate care for children including following appropriate diapering/toileting procedures, and maintaining a sanitized classroom, such as; hand washing, change of bedding, and sanitation of toys, equipment, and surfaces.
- Assist with recruitment of parents and staff.

- Associates degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Child Development, Early Education, or Elementary Education with an Early Childhood endorsement.
Experience
- One year of teaching experience in a child care, preschool or early education setting.
- Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish and English

- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Must obtain the Child Development Credential in Infant and Toddler within one year.
- Must have basic computer skills including the ability to type basic documents.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to lift 25-30 pounds.
- Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, and speak with children to ensure children’s health and safety.

- At least 18 years old.
- Initial Health Exam required for all Head Start staff at the agency’s expense.
- Initial and annual TB screening are required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
- Criminal Background Check required for all Head Start staff at the agency's expense.
- Fingerprinting required for all Head Start staff at the employee's expense.
- Valid Texas Driver's License Class C and access to reliable transportation.
