Primary Function: Provides essential assistance with administrative tasks, processes and projects related to general ledger operations. This position is responsible for preparation and maintenance of accurate accounting records and reports.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide basic financial oversight for funds related to grant projects
- Prepare and monitor budgets including actual vs. budget reporting
- Monitor/track the status of grant funds
- Monitor expenses for allowable uses of grant funds
- Prepare vouchers and requests for payments from funding agencies.
- Reconcile grants funds to the general ledger and federal payment systems
- Communicate grant progress and balances periodically with key personnel to support proper and timely expenditures of grant funds in compliance with guidelines and budget deadlines
- Maintain documentation of grant fiscal records
- Prepare all applicable fiscal reports for grant programs
- Manage accounts payable and receivable activities for grants
- Responsible for tracking grants within the accounting software system
- Oversees organizational contracts
Physical Demands: Requires periods of sitting, standing, walking, bending and stooping. Significant job stress may be associated with the position. Evening work may be required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field required. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license, Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification, or Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree preferred.
Work Experience: At least three (3) years of accounting experience required, preferably in not-for-profit healthcare with grants, accounts payable, and budgeting experience.
Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and other accounting guidance.
Able to identify and communicate accounting and internal control issues.
Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction.
Able to recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and related analytical functions. Proficiency in General Ledger accounting systems CYMA preferred.
Strong analytic and problem-solving skills with ability to prepare and interpret financial and statistical reports.
Demonstrates effective verbal, written communication skills, as well as exhibits strong customer service skills.
